WAL & WAR Trend

Tracks how the weighted average life (WAL) and weighted average rate (WAR) of PWLB borrowing have moved over time. A rising WAL suggests borrowers are taking longer‑dated risk, while changes in WAR reflect the level of funding cost being locked in at the point of borrowing.

WAL Mix Trend

Shows how issuance is split across WAL buckets through time. Shifts towards shorter buckets can indicate a preference for flexibility and refinancing optionality; shifts towards longer buckets can indicate a desire to lock in rates for longer.

Profile of Debt Raised

Summarises how recent PWLB borrowing is split by repayment profile (Maturity, EIP, Annuity). Changes in mix can signal shifting preferences between cash‑flow smoothing and refinancing risk.

Borrowing by WAL × Profile (Latest Month)

Breaks down the latest month’s borrowing volumes by WAL bucket and repayment profile. Use it to see where activity is concentrated on the curve and whether borrowers are favouring amortising (EIP/Annuity) or bullet (Maturity) structures.

Rate vs WAL (Latest Month)

Plots individual loans to show how rates vary with WAL. Outliers can reflect different concession levels or timing effects; the overall slope helps illustrate the market pricing relationship between term and rate.

Concession × WAL Heatmap

Shows where borrowing clustered by concession level and WAL. Concentrations can indicate common “sweet spots” in pricing or demand; gaps can suggest avoided tenors or less attractive concession tiers.

Recent PWLB Loans

A transaction-level view of recent PWLB borrowing, including borrower, size, rate, profile and WAL/tenor characteristics. Use it to validate what’s driving the charts and to spot notable deals or shifts in borrower behaviour.

Borrower Leaderboard

Ranks the most active borrowers for the selected period by total amount raised. It helps identify which authorities are currently funding and whether activity is concentrated in a small number of large borrowers.
